In 2000, California enacted AB 2251, which adds Section 702 to the California Insurance Code to require an insurer that maintains a certificate of authority to transact insurance in California, advertises insurance on the Internet, and transacts insurance in California, to identify all the following information on the Internet:

• National Association of Insurance Commissioners company code number: 37206
• Name as it appears on Certificate of Authority: Contractors Bonding and Insurance Company
• State of domicile: Washington
• Principal place of business: Washington

The legislation became effective on January 1, 2001.
